Modern financial technologies, particularly Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), have opened significant opportunities for transformation in financial markets. As the digital version of Iran’s national currency, the Crypto-Rial provides a platform through which Islamic financial instruments may be developed with enhanced efficiency, transparency, and speed. The main purpose of this study is to assess the capacities and conduct a strategic analysis of employing the Crypto-Rial infrastructure for the design and management of a new generation of Islamic securities, with special emphasis on smart Sukuk. The research employs a descriptive-analytical methodology, drawing upon library resources, official documents issued by monetary and financial authorities, as well as relevant academic articles. Findings indicate that smart contracts based on the Crypto-Rial can automate the processes of Sukuk issuance, profit distribution, and secondary market transactions, thereby reducing transaction costs and improving transparency. Nevertheless, the implementation of such mechanisms entails considerable jurisprudential and legal challenges, including the definition of “possession” in a digital environment, the legal recognition of program codes, as well as strategic risks such as security, systemic, and social vulnerabilities. Comparative analysis further reveals that the degree of complexity in digital transformation differs depending on the type of Sukuk, whether ijārah, murābaḥah, or partnership-based. Accordingly, although the Crypto-Rial provides substantial technical capacity to revolutionize the Sukuk market, its practical realization depends on the establishment of a comprehensive jurisprudential, legal, and managerial ecosystem that ensures secure and efficient utilization of this infrastructure within Iran’s capital market.
